Hi, I’m Mary-Anne.

I am a graphic designer and visual artist based in Poughkeepsie, NY. With a BFA in Graphic Design from SUNY New Paltz and over a decade of creative experience, my multidisciplinary practice spans painting, drawing, photography, and mixed media.

My work is rooted in a deep appreciation for the beauty of everyday life, the surreal nature of dreams, and the allure of imagined worlds or dreamscapes. Through portraiture and figurative work, I create contemplative visual spaces that center on themes of femininity, strength, and stillness.

Artist Statement

I am especially drawn to watercolor paint for its softness and unpredictability. I have recently been experimenting with acrylics and oils to introduce more texture into my work. My work balances realism with expressive, abstract painterly techniques, allowing emotion and atmosphere to guide the final image.

I am a lucid dreamer and dreams play a central role in my creative process. Many of my paintings which I call dreamscapes, begin as fragments from the subconscious, images, colors, or sensations that linger after waking. I am interested in how dreams blur memory, identity, and time, and how these interior experiences can be translated into something tangible and shared. Rather than illustrating dreams literally, I aim to evoke their emotional truth through gesture, colors, and layered mark-making.
